Moulin Touchais, AC Coteaux du Layon, 2002
– An attractive lemon zest aroma combines with sweet honey and pretty white florals. There is also a touch of apricot and spiced orange peel. The palate is precise and delicately structured with a gentle texture that supports the waxy, honey and stone fruit notes along with a lovely mineral streak that runs throughout. It is the freshness that prevails, however, leading to a clean, refined finish. This is a beautifully balanced wine of real concentration and potential.
Vouvray, Domaine de Pouvray, 2002
With a white-truffled nose and sublime honeyed fruit, Pouvray’s 2002 is the epitome of great aged Chenin. The sweetness integrates seamlessly into a core of fruit on the palate and the acidity remains refreshing. This has been well worth the 14 year wait.
