Tasting Note
Very expressive with white flowers and fruity aromas of apricot and vineyard peach, along with dried fruit and nut overtones. Straightforward, clean, full and well-balanced on the palate, with a fresh and fruity finish revealing mango and citrus overtones. The oak is subtle and very smooth. This vintage shows lovely acidic tension: elegant.
Ageing
Chardonnay are aged for three months in oak barrels (30% of the vintage).
Top 100 The Wine Merchant
Highly Recommanded by The Wine Merchant
Mainly Pinot Noir. Generous and well structured, elegant with soft full flavour and very good length. A classic example of how a small Champagne house can produce a quality bubbly.
– Château Sociando-Mallet produces full-bodied wines with a deep, dark colour. Their complex bouquet is usually dominated by black fruit aromas with a touch of minerality and well-integrated, elegant oak. Often somewhat “virile” when young, the wines gain in balance and complexity with age. They are fresh, straightforward, and have a wonderful length.
Château Sociando-Mallet has always been a wine with great ageing potential. A wine to be enjoyed even after 30 years in great vintages.

2014 Sociando Mallet – Firm, bright, crisp and fresh, with blackberry, tobacco, smoke and spicy cassis character, the wine is full bodied, tannic and should age well.
A tiny organic vineyard with pre-phylloxeric vines owned by Pascal and Sophie Lucin Douteau.
Flagship of the Mandois range, this “Cuvée” was made in the honour of Victor Mandois the founder of the Mandois Champagne House back in 1905. It is made exclusively from the Chardonnay grapes. Older vines, from 50 years and more are selected for this “Cuvée”. Naturally low yielding, these vines bring concentration which is also acquired by partial oak ageing. The nose is typically Chardonnay, with citrus notes, elegance and power. On the palate we find a good body with complexity, structure and the perfect balance. The length is simply amazing equalled by an incredible freshness.
Victor 2002, a 100% Chardonnay symphony to honour the old vines from Chouilly and Vertus. Vinified in oak casks, as Victor Mandois used to do more than a century ago. A Blanc de Blancs vintage with an extraordinary ageing potential.
93 Points Wine Enthusiast (2000 vintage).
“A Champagne that is very much wine. The structure and the richness are just right for a food wine, showing ripe acidity, flavors of plums and apricots, and balancing these primary fruits with a dense, complex structure that takes in yeast, maturity and a tight apple skin finish.” 12/1/2008
Product Information (2005 vintage)
This is Hanaé younger brother Eloi. Produced in a similar style but somewhat lighter with 115grams of residual sugar rather than 170. Still absolutely delicious and will marry fruit tarts to perfection.
– The Cristal 2008 is deep, intense and masterful. It offers the quintessential reflection of its chalk soils which lend it its velvety texture and delicate tension. Amber hue with green and orange tints. Fine, even and lively sparkle.
Complex and intense bouquet disclosing candied citrus, yellow fruit, Williams pear, pollen and toasted almond. The delicately seductive bouquet shows intensity and well-honed precision.
The wine is powerful, full yet tight, on entry to the palate. The 2008 is undeniably well structured but in a particular way: the wine’s almost saline concentration has not been created by the sun, but is derived from the dryness of the chalk soil in a particularly cool summer.
The result is a smooth, almost liquorous, mouthfeel that coats the palate with a powerful yet soft texture. This gives way to an incredible finish, underpinned by freshness and an impression of absolute purity with a taut and very saline character.
Very fleshy, this delicious red shows plum, raspberry and blackberry pâté de fruit notes backed by spice cake, anise and toasty vanilla. The finish is long and polished. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Chateau Rollan de By
