Moulin Touchais, AC Coteaux du Layon, 1971
Deep orange gold. This has an attractive and complex baked apple nose with hints if spice and caramel. The palate is complex, powerful and concentrate and is distinguished by the high level of acidity. Highly textured, with a russet-apple and quince like presence, this is still positively youthful. It has been preserved by the acidity and will continue to hold for years to come. It deserves to be in the cellar of all true Chenin lovers.
Perfect if you are celebrating a 50th birthday or golden wedding anniversary this year!

Moulin Touchais, AC Coteaux du Layon, 1982
– Brilliant golden colour with golden hue. The nose remains subtle again, with nuances of orange blossom, caramel, toffee, apple and spice. Rich luscious palate with generous mouthfeel. The complexity is beginning to take on even greater expression here; spice, toffee apple, lemon and honeycomb flavours are layered over a viscous palate. The acidity is still fresh, with very long aftertaste of toffee apple, honey and lemon.

Moulin Touchais, AC Coteaux du Layon, 1985
– Very deep, old gold and clearly a wine marked by botrytis. This is evolved, but has probably been on this plateau of development for years. There are notes of caramel on the nose. Open and expressive. Delicate and elegant on entry, it builds well with a notable thread of acidity running through the wine. Persistent and powerful finish.

Moulin Touchais, AC Coteaux du Layon, 1996
This is still quite muted on the nose, but the palate speaks for itself. Ripe and tropical in style, it has some young Riesling notes. Powerful, rich and concentrated, but displays excellent balance. Seductive and certainly approachable now, this is going to have a very wide drinking window since it will continue to develop and age for decades to come. It also represents the best value in the whole cellar.

Moulin Touchais, AC Coteaux du Layon, 1997
– Deep straw gold colour with golden edges and pale gold hue. The nose displays good intensity with lifted aromas of honeysuckle, lemon and spice followed by a touch of butterscotch. Mouthflling viscous palate favours of honeyed apricot, lemon and peach with a spicy back palate. Superb acid balance and freshness. Clean finish with exceptionally long aftertaste of honeyed apricot, spice and honeycomb.

Vouvray, Domaine de Pouvray, 1990
Great aromas of lemon zest and fresh flowers, this has the mature, burnished feel you’d expect from a 1990, with excellent cut to its candied citrus, chamomile and dried pineapple flavors. Long, stony finish, alluring smoky hint.
