Chinon Cuvée Prestige “le Villy”, Domaine du Raifault, 1989
Fully mature and still full of life, this parcel shows why Chinon is so special. Dried red fruits, tobacco leaf and mushroom combine with mouthwatering ferrous acidity and lacy tannins to make a wine that’s nearly irresistible.
Clos Louie – ‘Louison & Leopoldine’, Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon, France 2014
A tiny organic vineyard with pre-phylloxeric vines owned by Pascal and Sophie Lucin Douteau. ‘Louison & Leopoldine’ is their second wine; with a high proportion of Cabernet Franc it has a charm and elegance and is drinking wonderfully right now.
‘Red cherry with hints of mint, creamy and smooth on the palate. Expressive and with fine depth of flavour – a good find.’ – www.bordeaux.com
Viader Estate – “Liquid Cashmere” Proprietary Red Blend, Napa Valley 1996
Pronounced via-“dare”, VIADER is a leading Napa Valley wine estate established in 1986 by Delia Viader, and recognized around the world for consistently producing high quality wines.
The VIADER Vineyards are located on the steep rocky slopes of Howell Mountain, 1200 feet above the Napa Valley floor, approximately 3 miles northeast of St. Helena.
The propriety blend is the estate’s flagship wine and is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure, character and complexity with succulent fruit and rich tannins, whilst the Cabernet Franc adds aromatics and imparts a silky structure, suppleness and elegance.
1996 was a very good year for Napa wine, a warm vintage the wines show good concentration and depth. This prestigious wine is ready for drinking now and has been stored impeccably in our own temperature and humidity controlled cellar.
