– Light purple and ready to be enjoyed in its youth. It has aromas of ripe plum and dark cherries with notes of blackberry, cassis and an earthy undertone that leads on to a soft and smooth tannin structure. Incredibly soft an easy to drink, this wine is light enough to be chilled down slightly, and enjoyed with a tuna steak from the BBQ during the summer, or on its own with roast chicken, game or lamb during the cooler months.

– Sweet and sour – red fruit jam and bitter cherry, with tickling fizz

– Nicely crazy lightly sparkling red, with a sour cherry and red fruit jam nose, that plays out on the palate too, with a slightly herbal back-note. It reminds us of a light Lambrusco Rosso. A real sweet & sour character to it, with great freshness. The new vintage’s juice was blended with previous vintage base wine whilst still fermenting. Primary fermentation finishes in bottle producing a lightly fizzy wine of between 2 and 3 bar pressure. Ancre Hill Estates is located in the Welsh county of Monmouthshire. The 12 hectares of vineyards are perfectly positioned on south facing slopes close to the border town of Monmouth and the Wye Valley. The estate utilises traditional Biodynamic and Organic Viticultural practices to produce the best possible fruits from carefully sourced and selected varieties with excellent heritage. The wines produced at Ancre Hill express the terroir of ancient mudstone and sandstone soils, giving the wines their character and natural flavours, with no external intervention or manipulation in the winemaking process.

– Fragrant strawberry, cherries and liquorice with sweet spice

– Light but intense – fragrant strawberry and cherries merge with liquorice and sweet spice. The grapes underwent 100% whole bunch maceration for between 30 to 50 days. Fermentation was finished in oak and stainless steel for ageing on gross lees for a minimum of 10 months, with natural MLF, no filtration or fining. – Beautiful medium bodied red wine with hedgerow fruit aromas and flavours of blackberry. The gentle use of one-year old oak gives a soft rounded  flavour that marries with the wine’s natural acidity. A perfect accompaniment for grilled lamb or mature cheese.

With such a marginal weather, who would have thought Wales could produce wine?! This family estate went even a step further: they adopted biodynamic practice in 2012 to protect the integrity of the land and obtained the Demeter certification in 2013. The Triomphe grape, originally from Alsace, is well-suited to the area and gives pure raspberry and red cherry aromas.  It’s very juicy and quaffable and perfect on a hot summer day.
