Aresti – Chardonnay Estate Selection, 2015
This Chardonnay looks yellow with green tones; it features aromas of sweet fruits such as pears, melon and cucumber, that after a while are also felt in mouth. It’s a medium-bodied wine with a long finish.
“Aresti Winery is a family-owned winery that was founded in 1951 by Vicente Aresti and his father-in-law Alfredo López. Originally known as Bellavista Estate, Aresti believed that the Curico Valley was the ideal place for his vineyards. Over the years the family purchased new land throughout Chile to plant their Aresti Vineyards. By 1999, the brand name and label had switched over to Aresti and a state of the art cellar and bottling plant was constructed. The new winery also included an underground, climate controlled barrel room to house up to 2,000 barrels according to our Aresti wine reviews. Aresti wines are available in 5 different lines from their value Estate Selection to their top tier Family Collection red blend. Nine different grape varieties are used to produce the various wines in the Aresti portfolio, however it is their Limited Release and Family Collection Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Carmenere blends that tend to find the top of our Aresti wine ratings.”
Calmel & Joseph – Chardonnay Villa Blanche, 2016
Very expressive with white flowers and fruity aromas of apricot and vineyard peach, along with dried fruit and nut overtones. Straightforward, clean, full and well-balanced on the palate, with a fresh and fruity finish revealing mango and citrus overtones. The oak is subtle and very smooth. This vintage shows lovely acidic tension: elegant.
Chardonnay are aged for three months in oak barrels (30% of the vintage).

Champagne Mandois – Blanc de Blancs Brut Premier Cru, 2010
100% Chardonnay, this is a crisp Champagne with fantastic depth of flavour and a long, biscuity finish. Light yellow with green tints. Refined, mature nose blending brioche, mineral and toast notes backed by delicate fruit. The palate shows seductively refined texture, ethereal fullness, freshness and minerality.
Champagne Mandois – Cuvée Victor Vieilles Vignes, 2005/07
Flagship of the Mandois range, this “Cuvée” was made in the honour of Victor Mandois the founder of the Mandois Champagne House back in 1905. It is made exclusively from the Chardonnay grapes. Older vines, from 50 years and more are selected for this “Cuvée”. Naturally low yielding, these vines bring concentration which is also acquired by partial oak ageing. The nose is typically Chardonnay, with citrus notes, elegance and power. On the palate we find a good body with complexity, structure and the perfect balance. The length is simply amazing equalled by an incredible freshness.
Victor 2002, a 100% Chardonnay symphony to honour the old vines from Chouilly and Vertus. Vinified in oak casks, as Victor Mandois used to do more than a century ago. A Blanc de Blancs vintage with an extraordinary ageing potential.

Limoux AOP “les Crus”, Calmel & Joseph, 2014
Clear yellow color with shining reflects. The nose is strong with spicy notes, flower and mint mix up to offer a rare aromatic complexity. The mouth is straight, initially crispy, then it complexifies with salty notes. Round with a perfect balance between acidity, fruit and aromas. The minerality of this wine is characteristic of the great Chardonnay cultivated in a fresh environment and raised in oak barrel.
The high Valley of Aude is the highest vineyard in Languedoc. Our parcels are located at the extreme west of Languedoc. Spring comes in late and autumn is quite cool. The altitude is above 300m and average rainfall exceeds 800 mm/year. The late clay soil is a very important factor in Languedoc to favor the planting of the Chardonnay grape. Certainly the best terroir for Chardonnay in the whole region of Languedoc.
Manual harvest. Grapes are neither destemmed nor crushed. The first juice, the free run juice and the pressed juice are all vinified separately. The alcoholic fermentation is done in barrels. It is regular and last for 3 weeks. The malolactic fermentation is only done on the barrels that are found too acid. As a result, the final blending between the different wine profiles results in an exceptionnal harmony for our Chardonnay.
